This story is absolutely terrifying. It’s more than merely the paranormal; it’s that something evil took advantage of your good will in order to torment and frighten you as much possible. It reminds me of the phrase (and the title of the novel by Stefan Zweig): Beware of Pity (in German: Vorsicht vor dem Mitleid).

As someone who has had unfortunately tried to work with Egyptian academics and the scholarly community, this result is all to common: make outrageous, unsubstantiated claims: („we have uncovered the tombs of Alexander/Cleopatra/Akhenaten AND the swaddling clothes of Moses!!“) and then once you‘ve got interest and/or

I’m loving both portraits. Michelle’s gorgeous dress pattern is definitely Klimt-inspired.

I totally agree. Are you seeing a little bit of Gustav Klimt in there?

THIS. Thank you. While it’s understandable that the term is most closely associated with Nazi Germany, as a German with non-European roots, I’m livid at how the use of similar techniques on a similar scale used by European colonial powers in Africa, Asia and the Americas is just totally ignored/forgotten. Of course,

I love you for finally saying what needed to be said.

They had an AMAZING men’s wool pea coat. It was just perfect. But they stupidly discontinued it, and now they’re gone for good. I wish I had bought a second coat. The coat I bought is now a little worn but held up well for many years. I wish I could fine sonething like it. :/

It’s actually: “Ihre PAPIERE bitte.” Learn to spell German before using them as the knee-jerk, catch-all phrase for all that is bad in the world.

I'm sorry, but why does this myth continue to be celebrated?

Thanks for posting this! Did you think it was a negative entity?

YES YES YES! We are breathlessly waiting for it!

I loved your story. I was scared sh*tless. We want more! Are you ever going to post the other story of the thing that followed you home?!

Am I out of the grays now?

Thank you for your response. Some things truly are better left unknown. I'm happy you left that place.

Your story scared the living daylights out of me. I am SO SO sorry you had to go through that.

At the risk of bringing up something painful, can you describe anything more about this thing? You say it's like an anglerfish. But we know a fish is "attached" to the light. Did you have any sense of what it really was?

I have a similar story. My mother tells me that until the age of six, I was absolutely TERRIFIED of water. Bathing me was a nightmare; I freaked out if water was poured over me, would never go to the kiddie pool, even a drop of water on my swimsuit required a new and dry one.
