It has and will always be something to write home about. All those who diss it either never had one or have driven in a model that has one.

I did some number crunching yesterday and 1 in 2,600 cars catch on fire - so I guess Tesla is no better or no worse than any other car on the road today. I have to go around and ask more of my friends if their car has ever caught on fire.
I did the math and it looks like 1 in 2,600 cars catch on fire. So I don't doubt the numbers people are putting out there - perhaps I just live in a no-fire bubble :-).
Ok so there are 254 million vehicles on the road in the US. Based on the FEMA report you posted a link for (thanks for that) there are approximately 100K automotive fires per year. So that is less than 0.039% cars catch on fire - however that is 1 in 2,600 catch on fire. Based on sales numbers I would say the Tesla…
I can see from rolls and high impact collisions this happening - the past Tesla's on Jalopnik that have caught on fire did not seem to be that bad a crash. That being said all the info is not in - I was assuming they were fairly minor front end collisions because there never seems to be others mangled cars in the…
Hunh - that is quite the list of fires - thanks for answering my question.
I agree to a point - however of all of the car accidents you have been in - how many of them did the car catch on fire? I am not slamming Tesla - I am just shocked how comfortable people are with cars catching on fire.
Serious question - how many cars have you had or your friends have had that have caught on fire after an accident? I can't recall the last time anyone I knew was in an accident and their road car caught on fire.
You have been in a car that catches on fire not one but twice? Was it the same car?
How many Tesla's are there on the road? Perhaps I am out of touch of just how many cars burn to the ground every day and are written off - but I would say that if 1 in a 1,000 one to two year old Mercedes S Classes caught on fire - this would be a pretty bad thing for MB. I don't think this is an epidemic yet - but…
To completion - ohh I love how you dream big! Good on ya son!
Buying a Kia luxury sedan is like ordering caviar at Applebee’s.
You had me at No.
I can appreciate the time/effort/craftsmanship into this ride, well done - hat tip - you clearly have more that 13k into this - probably double that. That being said the whole point of project cars are that they are your project and you get to decide what is in and what is out. Taking over someones project ride hog…
They should just have their license taken away - truly a hazard on the road if this is how they deal with this situation.
Well then better order the beefed up suspension and have a long driveway.
Any idea what the curb weight will be?
Thank you
I blame Alastair Caldwell - he clearly was a bad advisor.
OK Niki.
