Me too.

I was sitting second in line at a stop sign on a hill when I was a kid and the dump truck in front of me popped his clutch, stalled and started free wheeling backwards. By the time the driver got it stopped and jumped out to see what had happened to me he found me all the way down the hill waving at him. He was so

About ten years ago I was sitting around a lunch table with David E Davis, Denise MacCluggage, Brock Yates, Ken Gross and some other car nuts, and the conversation turned to the possible return of Alfa Romeo to the United States [a constant point of conversation concerning Alfa], when I opined that I wasn’t worried

Every time I see this age of Camaro, I think of IROC, and a whole lot of road racers going sideways in series on a banked oval because they don’t have those on road tracks, unless you include Monza. The third gen is a predictable test bed, and it could be set to many suspension set ups. I wonder what GM is thinking

You made a sale! That has to justify your existence to Kinja for at least a month right?

Excellent question. Let’s go over to old guy corner and see if we can get an answer. Let’s see, there I am, an old guy, sure I can answer your question.

I hear you. My truck is nothing special to anyone but me. It’s an ‘06 Silverado 6 Cy;, 4WD long bed, manual trans. A truly odd duck. My mechanics make fun of me because I wax it, but I still use it for hauling chopped up trees, metal to the recycler, furniture, whatever. It’s a truck, and it is only joyful when it is

Good for you! They are so much fun to drive, and enjoy it a lot.

Fair enough, and I think that there is a lot of truth to that. There seem to be more and more people I meet who own cars that they have no connection to other than the current market value. I find it sad for the car.

Cool!

Resto-modding only works on car shells where all the mechanicals are trashed. If you are modding a working car, then you should just buy a new car and leave a period piece alone.

There are people who like making their car as clean and polished as possible, well beyond a driveable car and then have it judged for how clean they can make a car. Good for them. I just can’t do it. I restored my Alfa because when I got it the paint was peeling off the hood from the 6 coats of Earl Sheib each seller

I relate to much of what this guy says. I have had a ‘67 Alfa Duetto for 27 years now, longer than any other person has owned my car. I restored it once, and now it is well on its way back to decrepitude. I came into some money when my dad died, and I thought about sending it out for a rotisserie to really fix it

I completely disagree. The First model Stingray was a Ferrari killer, and I think the most stylish Vette ever built. Vettes are hit or miss. The 1970's and most of the 80's were a total loss due to emissions, but I like the C5 for its simplicity, and I really like the C6. I don’t think that GM has lost the plot. I

Yes, I have been in a car with a back up camera. Ever been in a car with a back up camera that is on all the time, on the highway, everywhere because I haven’t. I have used mirrors like everyone else on the highway.

Yeah my father’s back up cam used to come in the mirror, but you don’t drive with that. For lane changing and monitoring the rear view, I am so used to seeing the mirror image, I have no idea if I could adjust to a normal image and make the right move.

Thanks for this! One of my all time favorites. I can never look at this scene enough. :)

I have a question. If you replace a rear view mirror with a camera does it project a mirror image or a normal image? We are all trained to read those things as mirror reflections. If it suddenly showed me the natural view, would I be confused? Is it different and how to engineers deal with this?

Most cars look alike. Tell me the massive design cues between a Camry and a Taurus. If you make something great, and the P 4/5 is great, people are going to mimic it. In the car world that is par for the course and complaining about it does make you a whiny little …

Carlisle, PA and Nazi fiefdom is a pretty good description of town.
