Given how price sensitive the Fiesta market is I’d be surprised if an RS variant ships (at least in the US). A significant power bump of any sort puts it square into Focus ST territory in terms of power (likely price as well) and as much as I love my Fiesta the Focus is a nicer car if a bit less manic in nature.

For a lot of people it has nothing to do with being “phony”. A lot of people like to just have something fresh every two or three years that has all maintenance built in as a package for the “appliance factor”.
