I seriously loved my R53 (‘05 and ‘06 had the better gearbox) but I traded it for an ‘06 BMW Z4MC. Now that I’m selling the Z4MC (seven years later), I’m looking for a low-mile R53. I thought the R56 was too “soft”.

Just look at the Porsche market. Late 356s and air-cooled 911s are getting stupid money and that bled down to the less desirable models. Ten years ago you could get a 914 for a six pack and handshake; same with the 912.
