Holy parking lot. My quick math shows that at about 10 acres of pavement. And from the aerial photo, it’s being used mostly for storage of containers and other junk. Great use of riverfront property. But I’m sure the skinny-ass park next to this monstrosity is nice.

It is on Continental’s property... The driver, Linus Gugino, is all of ~23 years old. He has been ‘karting’ for a handful of years, but certainly should not have been behind the wheel in this case (easy to say now, I know). I imagine Continental’s safety team will be the most heavily scrutinized here.

45yo guy here... every time I see a well-appointed Flex (monotone paint, upgraded wheels, etc) I adore the lines and wish they were available with a hybrid powertrain. I would snatch one up. Perfect people haulers. Placid ride. And so much space. Like an Element for people instead of dogs & gear.

It doesn’t help that they look like someone tipped over a refrigerator.

Consumer Reports relies on consumer reports, you could say?

In this video, Sandy Munro, an openly huge supporter, passive friend, and investor in Musk’s ventures (we’ll get into that later), tries to make the argument that firing a 500+ person team due to a management disagreement on the crown jewel of Tesla that is its charging services division, makes sense and that not only

Does it need to be pointed out that there are stainless-steel-bodied Deloreans built in 1981 that still haven’t “attracted rusting surface contaminants?”

- The building codes should be changed to require EV charging supported by solar panels and local storage. This would solve one of the big hurdles to reasonably priced EVs and PHEVs.”

Now playing

The road was built for through traffic, yet it was privatized without following procedure. Conway Elementary is off Lake Margaret. Fortunately, they are going to leave one gate, but they are removing two public walkways in roads that are not even supposed to be blocked.

Fuck these cars. They aren’t luxurious, they aren’t fast, really, they have no redeeming qualities beyond parts availability and being easy to work on. It’s a huge car with macpherson struts up front and a solid rear axle. Which is basically an economy car setup that gives terrible road manners.

My son recently picked up a 96 MkVIII w/75k miles in really nice condition for $4500, one lady owner who took very good care of it. No rust because of where we live. Passsed Ca smog w/no problem.  Runs and drives really well and the engine is great. Not a collector’s car for him but a daily commuter and great highway

Tesla’s “leap before you look” approach is what will ultimately put them behind. They had the money, talent, and early start to maintain the lead, but again and again, Elmo destroys everything he touches.

Reading the whole article then getting to the slushbox in the antepenultimate paragraph, confirming my fears from the earlier photo

Hi! Automotive engineer here! Seeing lots of folks debate about how much heavier this thing will be versus a diesel truck. For starters, keep in mind that they make it clear this is a day-cab. Day-cabs tend to weigh between 10k and 20k pounds with fuel, no trailer.

No, Tesla’s do not do brake by wire.

The passage of time alone guarantees that the new Scout will be way better than the original in every single way.

Is it just me, or somehow this makes me think the manifold might be in danger.

Fly by night away from here,

The overall tone of the ad, the wording makes me hesitate. On the face of it, seems like it should be a NP, but the seller comes across as a dickhead and $6200 is too much to put up with the hassle! So No Dice because I wouldn’t want to deal with this guy and his boy-racer modifications.
