Very true. The entire reason I was able to get my citizenship in the US was my willingness to do a six year stint in the military. There are certain jobs that very difficult to fill. The average American teenager can’t pass the physical, background check, and be willing to go into terrible situations. 

An insurgency would be extremely problematic. Locals know the layout of the land much better. The military in theory would want to hold by from alienating populations further. The thing people tend to not realize is that for every single insurgent fighter one side has, they must have between 10 and 50 no combat…

Combat is grossly romanticized in the west. This is not just Americans, but also in Europe, you have the same sort of silly movies that gloss over the reality.

He doesn’t need to get paid. His parents subsidize his lifestyle. 

It is very easy to recommend others to take risks you yourself are not willing to take.

His words are nice and pretty but when he refuses to take the same risks he demands others to take, it’s very hollow.

I have to ask Hamilton, how do you manage to write about the death of traditional retail workers, while working for a company that regularly takes money from Amazon. This site regularly features “stories” that are just amazon advertisements.
