This is misrepresenting the economic history of Venezuela in my opinion. In the 70's and the 80's, the economy was healthy and diversified. It was in the 90's that heavy corruption, lack of development of Venezuelan expertise, massive inflation, and inefficient management that began to have very significant issues to…
The global recession was quite severe. All petrol producing countries struggle. There is a reason why the Burj Khalifa is called that instead of its original name.
How am I a socialist? I work in the oil industry as a drives engineer. I provide service to customers throughout the entire process stream.
Its hilarious this is happening in Oregon. Did they ever change the state constitution to allow African Americans property rights?
I like how you try to use industry terms, but incorrectly. It is cute.
It still amazes me that scabs are surprised to be treated like scabs.
It is sour crude. So it is not nearly as worth as much as people think. It must be refined more than lighter crude. The higher sulfur content is highly damaging to equipment and the environment.
So to even export the crude, they must import light crude to basically cut it.
By Southern? Do you mean Southern Romania?
When African Americans began migrating north and getting good paying jobs (same as their white counterparts) in the mills...
I was doing a job in Detroit. I am originally from Eastern Europe. My coworker is a young black man from North Carolina. Very sweet kid. We were doing an upgrade project for a steel mill.
Japan doesn’t execute a lot of people, but the way they do it is utterly brutal. Add in their criminal justice system that is set up to cause false confessions, it’s a real problem that should have been addressed decades ago.
Not only that, but the large number of Brits that work in the EU, they will not lose their right to work. They will have to get work visas.
The other thing that I think many commenters on this thread are grossly over-glossing is the difficulty that former convicts have in getting work. Post incarceration employment will be at times just as exploitative as prison employment.
You have to get the American taxpayer, on the federal, state, and local level to fund this. That will be a hard sell.
That is not my argument at all. Please do not intentionally do this as this does not move the conversation forward.
They are not adequately funded. The answer is not to just take away prison jobs and then hope magically prisons will be adequately reformed to offer better educational resources.
I suspect we are on the same page, but not quite agreeing.
Was it not clear that I was sharing anecdotal evidence?
They have those things already.
