Can we get some explanation of the visualization? I mean it is visually interesting, but I’m not sure how to interpret the gray backwash, the blue contrails coming from the tips, or the red/blue kaleidoscoping that is happening near the body of the craft.

I think what we’re seeing here is very poor paraphrasing of research results for consumption by the general public.

That’s actually way less obvious than you might think. These rotors create complex air currents that interact with each other. Doubling them up could reduce their efficiency.
