Tangentially related question: Why are power companies pushing smart thermostats and cost-variable hours on customers? I would think it would negatively impact their bottom line. I assume that they get some sort of government incentive to move their customers onto these programs and devices.

But doesn't it put most of those devices into their "stand-by" mode? For instance, I know my Harmony remote just puts my cable box into the mode where the DVR will still record and it can be powered on instantaneously. It doesn't completely power it off the same as it would be if it were unplugged from the wall.

Good to know! I probably had created an image in my head early on and glossed over those passages or they just didn't register with me. Now I kind of remember Sam Black Crow's comment. Thank you for clearing that up!

Just out of curiosity, were there specific passages in the book that alluded to Shadow's ethnicity? When I read the book I just had a picture of a large Norwegian-type guy but essentially a blank slate with a lot of bulk. Did I miss something? It seems most everyone else pictured him as darker.

Just finished "Perfume: The Story of a Murder", by Patrick Suskind. Just released on Kindle so I picked it up, as I remember it being fairly popular a while back.

After reading the first couple of books I think that Hopkins nailed the books' Lecter perfectly. The voice, mannerisms, body language and sensuality was exactly the picture the book painted of the character. However, Mikkelsen's Hannibal is far and away the more terrifying portrayal.

The problem with not wearing the free shirts is that the multimedia crew spends 30 minutes during team warm-ups putting the "kiss cam" on people that aren't wearing the shirts and those that are wearing the shirts goad them into putting it on. It can get pretty hostile.
