I do because my sister got me this really awesome apron with owls on it plus I use lots of tomato sauce and am clumsy, but I really don’t feel GENDER OPPRESSION during operations.

I’m feminist as fuck and am an amazing cook and have a plethora of aprons. I also scrub a mean toilet. That doesn’t make me a sad little regressive wifey, it makes grownup who knows how to do basic tasks required for human survival. I also can do basic plumbing, I took my oven clear apart the fix the damn thing, and I…
Cloverfield:
Lauren, you are leaving out vital details in your reporting. This rule only applies to intersex women, not broadly to women with high testosterone. You elide the fact that Semenya (and Niyonsaba and Wambui) are intersex women, with XY chromosomes and internal testes that give them levels of functional testosterone…
As a neutral observer or competitor against her, I’d be crying foul and I’m stunned she’s been allowed to race in women’s events for this long. Sorry, but she has a chromosomal advantage. I’m sorry that there aren’t categories into which she fits, but it isn’t women’s or men’s.
Because she was born, raised, and currently identifies as a woman. The only reason we “know” she is anything other than a bog-standard cis woman is because people insisted that she take tests to “prove” she is a woman, which turned up her intersex condition.
“Slight” advantage? She produces 3x as much testosteron as the average woman. I’d say that’s a bit more then a slight advantage.
I can’t tell if you’re agreeing or not, but women have competed with men when they were good enough to do so. It’s rare because of how much a physical advantage males have over females genetically. I promise you, if Alex Morgan were good enough to play with the USMNT and wanted to, they would allow it.
Men = Everyone
you used the wrong picture if you were hoping to garner sympathy for Semenya
What these warriors should really be arguing for is no male/female divisions in athletics. Everything just open.
This continues to be one of the worst, most naive takes on Deadspin. Sometimes, you can’t operate on what you wish was true and you have to operate on what *is* true.
No, she’s not. The ruling is actually very specific and regards women with XY chromosome pairs. She does not have XX chromosomes.
This stupid thing is said *every* time here and it’s still wrong. Phelps is competing against literally everyone. Semenya is competing against a subset limited to women, while possessing a significant advantage of having male testosterone.
The ruling is specific to 46X/Y people, which means she isn’t a XX chromosome female. That’s the part Deadspin likes to leave out.
In regards to your Phelps example, let’s say swimming had two divisions; one for people with short arms and one for people with long arms. Phelps and his freakishly long arms qualify for the long arm division. Do you think it would be fair for him to compete in the short arm division?
She does have an advantage with the extra testosterone it isn’t her fault but the other runners are at a disadvantage running against her she could run the longer events the 1,500 ,3,000 or the mile and see how she holds up and it’s a few other runners who have this same condition.
Man, those nuts at the IAAF sure are ball-busters.
Particularly shitty is the inclusion of club pay—USWNT players are essentially stuck in NWSL, because there is not a robust global marketplace of leagues offering better opportunities, overwhelmingly due to gender discrimination.
This is just one of many examples of all the great shit that AA and anti smoking organizations are depriving us of.
