He probably doesn't belong to "pop" culture as such, but Ancalagon The Black would be picking the rest of these worms out of his pearly whites.

Mostly the work of a young medical student during his early education in Paris.

It's a beauty of a turntable, and it's built by McIntosh. Which means it will withstand a thermonuclear bomb. I've got three McIntosh pieces, all vintage, all perfect. However...

Holy god. What an odious, overpriced, under-performing, stunted-prole-bowel-evacuation of a car.

I expect cazzyodo was referring to the Chinese government.

Exactly. He was all, "Carefully, carefully, carefully, carefu...ah, what the hell."

"...plus de soins un voiture," indeed.

And Mood gets all the prizes! Most very well done, Sir. I was afraid I was the only one who still cherished that flick. Kronos scared the stuffing outa me as a kid in '65 on Saturday matinee TV. The glowing dome in the ocean, the stomping cylinder legs, the brilliant sound effects.

Nice job, 66!

I think the "Space Aliens Grill & Bar" sign would work better with the subhead:

Otherworldly? No, this is our world.

I remember Space Food Sticks coming in other flavors as well. Chocolate was first (and was like a soft, stale Tootsie Roll), but they also had vanilla and strawberry versions, if memory services. They were all kind of chalky and grainy, but we were just kids...so if it contained sugar and said "Space" on the package,

You are correct, Bombadil is NOT a wizard. He and Goldberry embody caretaker spirits of Middle Earth itself.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. It was way before it's time and I'm lucky to still enjoy it. But it was only B&O's second-best. Their really monster rig (and way beyond my means at the time) was the 8000 system. Those wacky Danes...

Piece by piece ('cause I was poor back then) I acquired the system from Hi-Fi Buys (now Overture Audio) here in Ann Arbor between 1982 and 1984. I replaced the BeoVox speakers shown here with a pair of DCM TimeWindow 1A's, still in perfect shape, still making glorious music.

Well done, Senor. My 8002 uses an MMC3 for playback, and a low-mileage MMC1 (still kept in its original cylinder) for recording to 1/4" open reel. The plug-in, pull-out makes it easy. Isn't this Danish stuff cool?

I've got the 80's myself. Same brilliant design, same brilliant sound.

"Three thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three."

It's old, yeah. But it's still sexy and still sounds sweet: my B&O 6000 rig.

The same folks who pronounce Jaguar as "Jag-wire" pronounce NASCAR as "Nass-Core."
