Console hardware holds certain software improvements back and because you cant upgrade a console, all multiplatform software will have to adapt to the lower denominator.

Itll be the same cycle every generation, you cant avoid that. I just hope that the PS4/Xbone have a lot shorter lifespan than the PS3/360 and then it shouldnt be too much of an issue.

No? The last 2 generations of graphiccards werent that impressive, they were held back by PS3/360 limitations. Now those limitations have shifted upwards
