I was just thinking that: “if that’s the answer, I’m going to be pissed.”

This puzzle is racist against people with automatic cars.

This. Given the very limited information given (and the demonstrated variation in manual-gearshift patterns), 6 is a perfectly rational answer. Unless the riddle is basically “what is the 2nd-best answer to this diagram, assuming the best answer is 6”. But from the article, I don’t get the impression that “not 6” is

There’s so little information, it could be just about anything if you properly rationalize it.

In this case Miata Is Always The Answer.

This movie is preposterous — in real life, The Rock would simply hold the two tectonic plates together with his bare hands.

This looks like a straight to DVD quality movie...

First Castle I thought of. No one ever gets in!

The Eyrie might be virtually unassailable, but the thing is a death trap defensively. It’s entirely dependent on supplies from the ground and there's no sneaking in or out, so any prolonged siege would likely force a surrender.

I don’t want to talk to you no more, you empty-headed animal food trough wiper! I fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!

‘Also, AoS has become about ten times better than Avengers was...’

I’m not worried about Stephen DeKnight being replaced because he was a late replacement for Drew Goddard who did a lot of the development of the show.

Good comment, or at least, observation. I remember (I think) Isaac Asimov bitching about the “little tin God of characterization” when people criticized his work for lack of realistic characters. I have to say that personally, the stories that stay with me the longest and have the most impact are ones in which the

all black (of course), human sized (so actors can fit in the suits) - probably they’ll look more like that charmer from Jeepers Creepers

Not really tho, when you’re talking about a new TV series bringing the story to the non-book crowd... sort of GoT style.

I generally agree, but I feel the characterization in this novel was weak even by Clarke’s standards. I’ve read a bunch of his short stories, the Odyssey books, Rama, and one or two other novels, and while none were strong on characters, I remember finding at least one or two likeable faces scattered throughout the

Ah, Karellen was the name of one of the mysterious alien overlords, not the ambassador to them.

Honestly, if you didn’t like the first episode this might not be for you, but I would consider watching at least episode 2, because the first two are kind of one extended pilot. This isn’t a traditional TV format, so it’s not like the first episode was filmed and produced far ahead of the rest of the season, but I

Not to mention the space penis monster whose only ally on board is a jism spewing android dildo. Cafe Flesh was more subtle :)

Having seen this in 1979, I can honestly say that Ripley's survival was no great surprise, nor of particular significance as to why the film resonated with me then and for almost forty years since.
