Same. I flew Icelandair this summer and everything was free! Shows and like 12 pages of movies. I saw Life of Pi, The Hobbit, and Exotic Marigold Hotel but there were other super recent movies on there too. And Arrested Development!

I've never paid to watch anything on a flight! But I've only flown Jetblue. And the instructions to turn it off are in the pocket of the seat in front of you. On Jetblue, you just hold the brightness - button until it's black.

I don't know anything about cop training but I believe that they do get trained to disable but it's not always "easy" and they have to worry about their "safety" so they just shoot.
