really that was just a better looking version of XI’s carbuncle. Unfortunately XIV decided to massacre all other usable summons but at least make Carby slightly cuter.

I’d say it was worse than that even, many jobs lacked some of the things that makes them great in XI (wyvern for Drg or how crappy the summons were for Smn). I myself hated how they changed races names/lore and how generic it all get compared to XI, they just weren’t able to recreate some of the magic. 

this does not apply to endgame content which technically is part of the story; you will likely not be able to complete a raid without communication.
