Who was 2012? Just give them a do-over.

*snort*

Exactly. Especially when the base model of the car starts at $50k.

Yeah, the E39 is the most BMW of the classic era. Too bad we managed to hydrolock it, blowing the side out the block...

The worst part is that BMW could have just called up Toyota’s supplier for gaskets and such. Easy call. Adds pennies more per car.

It’s OK, I do that too. ;)

We went from an E39 to an E60, and my sister’s got a 3 - all of them, the rubber stuff goes faster than faster than what I’d have expected for the price. Nice to dive, though... :D

Sorry, I was unclear. You were talking about comparing a Honda Civic / Accord with Mercedes S-klasse - the gold standard of the premium luxury sedan category. Nobody would ever expect them to be comparable. I was simply suggesting apples-to-apples.

And yet, the typical Toyota has better rubber, paint and interior materials than the similar-class BMW with a 30% price bump...

The S is a unique proposition. If you want to compare at that level, you need to look at the Lexus LS and the Hyundai Equus. Certainly, the LS has a quality interior.

BMWs are far too expensive to justify me buying them from Mexico. But cut the price to Kia levels, and I’ll buy a Mexican car with a BMW badge on it.

I’ll take a Chinese-built Buick over a Mexican-built VW. I assume the Mexican-built BMW will be just as good as anything built by the UAW. Just as I assume anything built by GM China will be superior in quality to anything built by the UAW.

Sure, if it’s got pink badging on its ass...

Well, if your pullout game is strong, no problem.

OTOH, if you’re like this dude...

Yes, like iPhones and Boeing airplane parts.

Pretty sure the USMC sticker is mandatory, no plate required.

My thoughts?

Did you follow up by telling his mother that he’s the load she shoulda swallowed, and his kids that gramps shoulda had stronger pullout game?

See? Perfect!

OMG, it’s just like Minecraft, but In Real Life!

I would love a 5 hp spec kart class with spec motors.

Ding! Ding! We have a winner.

And to think we were merely speculating if the thin-skinned ginger was tracking Jalopnik...
