My Tom Hooper story: I was celebrating my husband’s cousin’s 2nd place win for a screenwriting award at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood many years ago. Sitting across from us is Tom Hooper, Geofrey Rush, and Colin Firth. They had just come from some award ceremony where The Kings Speech was honored. This was long

What popped into my mind when I read this is disabled actors. Almost always, an able bodied actor is cast to portray a disabled actor. Only exception seems to be when an able bodied person cannot pass for a role, and those actors are almost always walk ons or supporting cast.

Because an insanity defense will put him away a lot longer than 5 years and eight months. Plus he’s, you know, insane.

I guess, for me, it depends on the “no.”

I’m old enough to have actually sent dead tree letters to love interests, but for better or worse have to acknowledge that lots of serious, real-life stuff now goes down via text.

Creepy? To be “hitting on” him? After six dates? You have some messed-up standards for acceptable female behaviour.

Because we’re taught not too “overwhelm” men with our “emotional issues” and we apologize profusely for things that aren’t our fault? It was probably her out in case he freaked out at her for being too clingy or something.

“You don’t have to respond” means “do not feel compelled to respond” not “literally never speak to me again.”

Am I the only one who feels like don’t tell me what to do? Jk. I need to work on interpreting the spazzes. I am willing to pay someone cash dollars for their assistance. This is a serious request as my whole love life is me missing the point.

As a male id like to say this statement is false, if I read it I’d see that the message came from a vulnerable place and I’d feel obligated to respond. Guy was obviously just not very smart

I’d say that. Because, yes, I’d like a response, but if the guy doesn’t like me and has to come up with an awkward turn down that makes us both embarrassed and anxious then I’d rather we both pretend I never said anything to begin with.

Um, so I take it ‘Spazz’ is not considered offensive in the US? In the UK it’s considered offensive same as ‘Retard’.

THANK YOU. As far as Popes go, he’s a pretty good one (for the record: Agnostic cultural Jew, here), but HE IS STILL THE POPE OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.

Then just don’t pay attention to her. You don’t know her personally. I don’t see her out there kicking puppies or shoving old ladies down the stairs. She’s a pretty normal actress who has worked hard. Why do you have to shit all over her? I’m not her biggest fan either but she’s not bothering anyone.

Elizabeth Moss is 33. I'm confused.

She’s not a “thing”. She’s a person. Haha. And she also did The Princess Diaries. And Brokeback Mountain. And Les Mieserables. Okay, I don’t know if you were joking or not. But I like Anne. She can be a little too much and annoying, but I still like her.

She’s not Emma Thompson though. This is probably as loud as she can complain about it and still get work.

I can’t complain about it because I benefitted from it.

I think the problem is, Hollywood doesn’t make the same movies it used to. Meg Ryan and Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock built careers out of playing the leads in romantic comedies. Not the female lead. Or the second lead. The fucking lead. Generally, that’s what an actress did when she got out of her ingenue phase.

All I can think of is that scene from 30 rock, where Jenna Maroney is playing the mom of a teen. “But I’m...41 now...time...to die. *dies*”
