It’s crap. I’ve read it. MRA/evolutionary psych/ nonsense.

Attractiveness is not objective.
Attractiveness is not objective. People rate these women “attractive” because they adhere to a heteronormative ideal of femininity. It’s not the other way around, wherein innate attractiveness somehow causes innate heterosexuality, which is what people will assume when they speed-read these scientific studies. They…
I disagree that it’s “harmless” for police officers to have sexist attitudes towards women and foster those attitudes in their workplaces. (Would it be ok if they talked this way when female police officers were around? If not, then it’s probably not ok to say at work!) Also, reconsider your words “it’s only an issue…
Oh, I absolutely think most police officers are horrible, violent, power-hungry, usually misogynistic people. I hate pigs in general.
They weren’t saying, “She’s attractive!” and then moving on with their day. They made sexist, objectifying, offensive remarks about her body, her skin tone, her clothing, and her heritage. It is at best unprofessional and at worst, sexual harassment.
This woman is not a colleague.
Dude does it matter if they weren’t talking about her like that to her face??? How does that make it okay? Is saying whatever disrespectful, rude, derogatory, racist, etc. shit you want to say about someone now cool as long as you think the person isn’t around to hear it?
Generally yes. And if they were talking about how some guy they worked with was not attractive and probably had a tiny dick, wouldn’t that be troubling?
I agree the synonymous use of the two is confusing. Tho I’d add that because misogyny literally means the hatred of women, it should be used when we’re trying to denote more sinister attitudes towards women. I’m not saying it has to be Elliot Rodger level before we call it misogynistic, but the word just doesn’t fit…
It’s only an issue if you make it an issue.
You’re not understanding that the issue is not that they were discussing what they find attractive in a woman, it’s the way they were talking about this particular individual. It was disrespectful. Admit that if someone was talking about your mom or daughter or sister like that in front of you you would find that…
I’m not being hyper vigilant about anything. I’m not advocating for this police officer to be suspended. You asked a question and invited criticism, now you’re having a hard time dealing with it.
I realize you are so desperate to push the “men hate womyn and are rapists and oppressors” line
“...she fucking hated that bitch.” Yeah...nothing contemptuous about that.
“Apparently the dudes wife thinks the reporter is a bitch. When discussing the reporter I could see how the opinions of the spouse who worked with the reporter would come into play.”
Farnam: My wife worked at the Herald. She fucking hated that bitch.
It’s sad to find out the people who are supposed to serve and protect are gross morons who call women fucking bitches and talk about their tits and ass when they can keep that shit to themselves like adults at work. And not hanging up the phone is just the moron icing on the moron cake. But you keep going, dear.
As an isolated incident it is def sexism and I was struggling to see the act as contemptuous and/or misogyny. However, when I looked at the incident in a broader scope and in relation to law enforcement overall relationship with women then it became misogyny (consequently the way they ridiculed English women as a…
You get what a code of conduct is, right? It’s the same reason a minister is frowned upon when he’s found hooking up with 19-year-olds on Craigslist.
