Canadian here. I started getting an aneurysm reading those comments about how snow tires are bogus. Then I realized that with luck, they'll remove themselves from the gene pool by running summers/no-seasons.

Now I'm tempted to start encouraging them...

Snow tires will help a lot... but with that Camaro, you'll likely want a sand-bag or two in the rear to assist with rear traction (Been doing that in my mom's 3-series for years, it makes a noticeable difference when taking off and turning).

With regards to all-season vs winter AWD, can tell you my friend's Evo and my

^You're referring to r-compounds (such as the Falken RT-615k). Those are autocross tires.

Proper summer tires are generally categorized as summer UHP's.

No-seasons are the poverty-grade junk you buy for 10-year-old golfs/civics, lease returns, or when you stance your car.

And as a Canadian, I can say that you are the rare exception - one of my closest friends has an Evo IX, and he refuses to drive that thing in the snow on summers/no-seasons unless it's to go get his winters installed (And I can agree with that). Your car might take off ok with it's awd and higher-end all seasons if

MK1's and MK2's troll well as well :)

Actually, selling those business jets has helped keep Bombardier's commercial division going as of late. You know, CRJ's and Q400/Dash 10's, as well as the upcoming C-series? All of those are produced in North America as well. With the current trend of outsourcing production, be glad there are still companies keeping

200k RPM is standard for a turbo, some OEM ones spin up to 250k RMP...

Centrifugal superchargers are similar in speed, with Screw-types a bit slower, and roots being the slowest - I believe the blower here is likely a centrifugal just designed to give the engine low-end grunt, however

well there's your problem! Move to MR2's, race on Sunday and drive to the office come Monday ;)

My mom still has her E46 323i, also a 2000. 14 years later, refuses to move to anything else because of that blend of sporty handling, smooth ride, and practicality; hasn't found a new car that she likes as much! That car also kept me from falling into a depression when I stored my MR2 last winter (and didn't have a

Mk1 MR2 owner here - given the lower power, displacement, and high rpm, I'm assuming it's the go-kart to the AW11, which is already pretty much a go-kart. How close am I? Because IMO, that's pretty damn awesome!!

Also, gullwing doors. *drools*

89 Supercharged, and 89 NA with a 91 Turbo swap, respectively.

Funnest cars ever, and the maintenance costs of a Corolla! ;)

Depends on how many beers in you are! Good luck explaining those burns at the ER though... ;)

Come visit some time!! We've got the good beer, poutine, attractive women (Montreal), and maple syrup!

Just bring a few Chevy SS's with the stick. That's the one thing we lack :(

That's actually one of the best (read: non-biased) reviews of your political situation I've read thus far. At least you guys got Obamacare out of it- it's not Canada's level of healthcare, but it's a start!

I do shudder to think what would happen if you guys chose Pres. Romney... But you definitely need a few more

Hey, clearly awesome 3-wheelers are WAY too avant-garde for your conservative rulers!

It's ok, Canada will take the excess. 3-wheelers + snow is a great combo ;)

So you're saying, when I drop my little sister off at work, I'm abandoning her. When I leave the theater for 5 min to grab a refill of popcorn, I'm actually abandoning my girlfriend, and by leaving the house, I'm abandoning my parents?

Great logic there, bud.

my old 93 Camry V6 5-speed was able to top out just shy of 240 km/h, which is around 140 I believe (and faster than my first mr2). So definitely feasible for a v6 Solara. As for being a tool, I cannot confirm this

Lol. Russia has become the literal worst-case textbook-scenario of capitalism gone wrong - it's about as consumerist of a society as you will find, but with almost all of the wealth concentrated in the hands of those who were smart, ruthless, and lucky enough to be in position grab parts of the industry when the

I think you forgot the Bombardier CRJ's, most recent variant of which was designed in the late 90's/early 2000's iirc. Not a dead market by any means, it's got significantly more competition than the large-jet market which is pretty much dominated by Boeing & Airbus...

and how heavy are those cars? We're talking about something with a bit more mass and equipment than a Hyundai Elantra here, first off. Try the exact same maneuver at the same speed with same margins in an S600, and then with a Miata or BRZ, and you'll get very different results.
