I really think the line between respectability politics and words of guidance/advice is paper-thin and Obama needs to work on his balance. He’s not wrong in terms of figuring out who you are and what you want free of what outside forces tell you what is supposed to be desirable and obtainable - if there’s a roving

He clearly wasn’t taking over for the 99 and 2000.

I loved the moment when Regina King said “God is good, all the time” and every Black person in the room replied “And all the time, God is good.” It was at the end of her speech so it was a bit cut off, but it happened and it was great.

I’ll say it.

I love it when the nominees bring their parents. It’s nice to recognize moms and dads for supporting them in an industry that is very unforgiving.

Regina King / Chris Evans rom com???? I would actually watch that.

Everything about Regina King is amazing. She even solidified Chris Evans as Best Chris when Captain America escorted her up the stairs to get her Oscar.

The entire concept of Green Book is garbage and was opposed by Dr. Shirley and his family. The Academy completed fucked this up.

Spike was actin’ an entire damn fool last night in the best kind of way. My favorite part is when Barbara Streisand was up their introducing “a BlackKKKlansman” and repped Brooklyn, and from the audience so quiet you could hear a pin drop you hear Spike shout back “BROOKLYN!” I died.  And then she was talking about

Because this post is meant to highlight the ways Oscar is making baby steps toward inclusion and diversity (despite Green Book taking the top award) by making many firsts and/or ‘just a fews’ in its winners tonight. Olivia Colman was a wonderful, well-deserved surprise and a raucously delightful speech, but it wasn’t

Green Book is thoroughly shocked and amused by how well you people dine at Sylvia’s in Harlem.

Does anyone know why they appeared to be avoiding having Ryan Coogler on camera? Several of the nominees thanked him, and talked directly to him, and no reaction shot. I googled it and it didn’t seem like he was wearing anything controversial on the red carpet...it just seemed like a very deliberate omission?

All of this screams raging personality disorder to me. Getting caught and then doubling down? He just seems unwilling to accept any responsibility for his actions at all, and also seems to look at them as a means to gain ever more attention for being wronged, except most of the world has stopped playing along.

Very tired. He’s in a massive lie inception at this point and there’s is no way out of it.

‘Fess up. End this shit. As the son of a black mother, I learned it was better to just confess and take your punishment then have the truth found out later and make them even angrier. It makes you an even bigger liar to try and hang on to a lie.

I saw on the news this morning that he wrote a check in payment to his 2 attackers. A CHECK! If true, that only compounds the stupidity of this entire incident.

$100,000 bond and the potential to face 3 years in prison is way overblown

While I do think the arrest, $100,000 bond and the potential to face 3 years in prison is way overblown, my advice to Jussie now would be to just stop talking. Dude needs to really keep quiet about this entire incident.
