Here's a funny/horrifying story about when amateur photography goes bad, from the perspective of a wedding photographer. Consider me scared straight.

I don't think it's a generational thing. I'm 24 and people can only see 2 photos of me on Facebook—my profile picture and my cover photo. Everything else is locked down to me only.
I'm curious as to why you'd be so keen to post photos of someone else on Facebook? What is the rationale behind people wanting to do that?
I'm also getting married next year, and we're having an "unplugged" ceremony. If you google "unplugged wedding" you'll find some good links, including templates for what to put in your program, on signs, on your wedding website, etc. I plan on writing my own blog post about it on our site that explains what an…
That's incorrect. Jesús is shortened when you say "Jesucristo" because you can't pronounce the s and c together ("Jesuscristo" doesn't roll off the tongue.).
Do you live in EP? I'm working there for the summer (at a school).
Shit, my response disappeared, but I agree. I had a friend like that, and it was disheartening. Hell, I'm engaged to a white dude (so it's not like I'm against IR ), but that level of approval-seeking just makes me sad.
A girl I was close to in high school was like that, and it was part of why we grew apart. Hell, I'm marrying a white Jewish guy, so it's not the interracial pairing that I found icky, just the constant approval-seeking.
The reactions to your comment interest me, because I'm a black lady engaged to a white (Jewish) man and I tend to agree with you. Some folks missed that you said "characters", but even so,I think it's valid to critique the ways TV reinforces the notion that the best thing a WOC can achieve is the approval of a white…
Thanks! I had no clue (we were at the airport) until he got down on one knee. So excited!
Jezzies, I'm getting married!
This comment is particularly apropo given that "hipster racism" was taken from Racialicious (Carmen specifically) without acknowledgment.
WDIGM was funny, and I thinked it worked because the plot was conducive to funny one-liners (like a play, with minimal scenery, a focus on conversation, etc.). But I hated WDIGM2, so you lost me there. :-)
This! And as for your last line, I'd add it doesn't help that so many critiques of black media automatically dismiss them for their blackness—few critics have the cultural currency to address problematic aspects of Tyler Perry without falling back on some racist stereotyping of their own.
I'm pretty sure it came out of the comments in a weekend social, because I recognize it too.
I was on Necon.
I have a Mirena, and I love it. I got it the first week of February, and the cramps/spotting were not bad at all. Up until this point, I haven't really had a period (bleeding, but not enough to need more than a panty liner), and insertion was not as bad as I thought it would be (*TMI* and I am very tight down there. I…
It terrifies me because my dad died last year at 61, and the year before I was born, my grandpa (my mom's dad), died at 61. Maybe we're cursed. :-/
Yes! My mom said we smelled like "wet puppies" after playing outside when we were kids.
This right here.
