I read a fascinating article in The Atlantic about how this all really happened because President Obama shook Raul Castro’s hand at Nelson Mandela’s funeral. I had no idea Mandela and the Castro brothers were friends, nor how much Cuba supported the Anti-Apartheid movement.

Yep! ’Tis the nature of the problem: all things genuine, authentic and sincere are like magnets for pretentious idiots and posers.
But balance sounds so fair! It’s only right that we elect some folks to make our country a little bit better, and then give the other folks who want to make it worse a turn. We have to balance good public policy with bad! That’s just common sense.

Even city council is a tough nut to crack and state level reps, etc. I had to hunt down and go on a google rabbit hole just so I knew the people were running for my city council and I sadly imagine not a lot of people a) do that or b) vote
