That is practical advise, thank you.

I hate needles, just do. It's soon to be 2014, why do we still even have needles? Where are the Hyposprays?!?!

Agreed. My point was that there is no violence involved in the situation I depicted. As opposed to say, walking into a bank waving a gun around and pointing it at an employee, demanding money. That would constitute armed robbery.

I do, was just speaking to the violence associated with heroin production, that it doesn't exist in a vacuum.

I'm aware of the sentencing disparities, they have been reduced but not eliminated. They are pointless. Crack is just cocaine in a different form, adulterated. It would be as if there were a sentencing disparity between marijuana buds and edibles (maybe there is).

I think the prohibition represents a LOT of violence. The same way alcohol prohibition represented a lot of violence. I don't see any violence associated with alcohol production these days (maybe there is moonshining violence, what do I know).

It is pretty addicting. The computer version is superior to the platform version, so +1 for you! Then there is Elder Scrolls: Skyrim & Fallout 3, both are masterpieces, IMO.

I replied this to someone else. What if one were to walk into a bank and hand a note to the teller that read "give me $2 million, in bags, now". Irrespective of race, sex, gender, class etc., you will spend more time in prison than someone who steals $2 million in jewelry from their employer or defrauds a government

It stands to reason (for me, at least), that someone "well off" who decides to steal or embezzle millions of dollars, should receive a harsh punishment. I have no doubt that someone "poor" who hands a bank teller a note asking for bags full of cash would not be shown mercy by our criminal justice system.

I think people can have differing opinions on what would constitute appropriate sentences when it comes to white collar crimes. Personally speaking, someone who steals $2 million in cash equivalents should receive the same sentence as someone who gets pulled over with a pound of heroin in their trunk. I would prefer

If your referring to the author of the article, yes I do understand what she's saying. I was just adding my 2 cents.

You can read my previous comments concerning how I feel the crime of rape should be addressed in our society. They are pretty clear. I differentiate between violent crime and white collar, the sentences for violent crime should be longer and they should be the top priority for law enforcement. I still believe that

"Because if we've learned anything it's that rich people shouldn't be punished as severely..."

As an atheist who loves Christmas, I find all this confusing.

The "irony" of that way of thinking is that it overlaps with that popular "hipster" trope of "I liked that 'thing' before it was cool".

That's awesome! As a pre-teen, there was little foresight about that possibility on my part.

The only thing I can think of is this: The whole "holier than thou", gatekeeper bullshit that comes along with so many subcultures & scenes. When I was young, the idea that there were girls enjoying Star Trek:TNG for example, never crossed my mind. I admit, I may have been a bit hasty with my conclusion.

I'm not disagreeing with your post. I wrote a post about being a nerd with social skills that does not question a woman's nerd "cred". I don't buy into any of the stereotypes concerning wonky or nerdy people. Some of us wonky guys have tattoo's of a particular MIT linguistics professor.

"I'm the first to embrace wonky men..."

As a hardcore nerd with social skills, I think the opposite when I meet a woman who shares my geek interests (sci-fi, fantasy and rpg-type video games).
