It’s not the mindset that leads officers to killing people, but it helps facilitate the decision making process that makes it easier for them to accept that decision. I know that sounds like I’m quibbling details, but it really is a big distinction.

Perhaps, but I’ve known plenty of awful progressives in my time, and many decent and moral conservatives. Change has to start somewhere, and refusing to let awful people dictate the world for you has to be the foundation for that.

There is a whole lot of us verses them these days, and it’s getting amplified from many sources: opportunistic politicians, the media (intentionally and otherwise)...just...everything. It is very exhausting, and the isolation that goes with it creates a dangerously skewed worldview.

You aren’t wrong, but consider 14 investigations versus the number of federal, state, county, and municipal agencies. I would imagine that the police departments required to operate with the consent degree are significantly lower than the actual number of existing agencies.

It really is, though. All major police departments have their issues to deal with, but few have managed to reach the levels Chicago displays. It really is a very unique situation in policing. Your solution boils down to this: have a single police officer who takes his job seriously, and treat everyone he encounters with dignity, leave. And essentially have a fifty-fifty coin flip that whoever replaces him also takes the job seriously, or is another racist, misogynist, violent thug.
