If it’s any consolation, it is highly unlikely that the Border Patrol’s hiring process would allow someone through who threatened a federal official.

European cops don’t do that, because shooting a person in the arms and legs is not only highly unlikely (when aiming intentionally, as you are trying to hit a small and movint target), it can actually be more lethal. Both legs contain a femoral artery, and severing this is usually lethal within 30 seconds. It is one…
Perhaps you should explain to us how a good shot would handle someone shooting at them? I am assuming that you already have a solution in mind.
Bravo!
It’s not the mindset that leads officers to killing people, but it helps facilitate the decision making process that makes it easier for them to accept that decision. I know that sounds like I’m quibbling details, but it really is a big distinction.
You can’t change the fact that there are good cops anymore than you can change the fact that black men have unjustly been killed, or racism exists. They are not mutually exclusive facts, they are simply facts. Refusal to acknowledge facts that don’t agree with you is absolutism, and denying the reality that the world…
It will eventually come back, but I imagine that will be the next 3 or 4 generations are dead. I would like to think that there is a way to bring it back sooner, but I’m a pessimist by nature.
Perhaps, but I’ve known plenty of awful progressives in my time, and many decent and moral conservatives. Change has to start somewhere, and refusing to let awful people dictate the world for you has to be the foundation for that.
Sometimes you need to be a bastard, and sometimes you need to be a saint. When one of my friends spent 40 minutes attempting to resuscitate a boy who collapsed (and ultimately died) from heat exhaustion, he was doing his damndest to be a saint.
There is a whole lot of us verses them these days, and it’s getting amplified from many sources: opportunistic politicians, the media (intentionally and otherwise)...just...everything. It is very exhausting, and the isolation that goes with it creates a dangerously skewed worldview.
Thank you much. There are people who are doing their best to hold to the oaths that we take. If you don’t hear about us, than that means we’re doing our job: If we do everything right, than we’re not doing anything that requires the news asking why we screwed up.
I appreciate that.
Thank you for that.
The country is shifting into a dangerous situation where a majority of people are having a very small minority speak for them. The more progressives flock to the cities, the more positions in Congress and The more skewed electoral colleges divide becomes.
Exactly that: it can take 30 seconds for a person to bleed out when a major artery is severed. In terms of fitst aid, that’s great: That’s 30 whole seconds to find where they’re bleeding from and plug it.
You aren’t wrong, but consider 14 investigations versus the number of federal, state, county, and municipal agencies. I would imagine that the police departments required to operate with the consent degree are significantly lower than the actual number of existing agencies.
Not much. I mean, you can say that your liberal cop and Soldier ‘friend’ thinks they’re a bunch of thumbsucking rodents for being too chickenshit to put their money where their mouths are.
‘Me and my ilk?’ You don’t know anything about me, or my ‘ilk.’ You don’t know that the primary certification my coworkers voluntarily go for is EMT, you don’t know about the multiple lives they’ve saved as the primary first responders in an area too remote to ensure proper paramedic coverage, or the professionalism…
It really is, though. All major police departments have their issues to deal with, but few have managed to reach the levels Chicago displays. It really is a very unique situation in policing. I would say that the LAPD or NYPD are the only police departments in the country that would reach the same levels and issues…
Your solution boils down to this: have a single police officer who takes his job seriously, and treat everyone he encounters with dignity, leave. And essentially have a fifty-fifty coin flip that whoever replaces him also takes the job seriously, or is another racist, misogynist, violent thug.
