Beautiful!
Beautiful!
Ok, these kids are freakin' adorable, and they've all got big pipes, but while I find giant patriotic USA! USA! spectacles to be hugely off-putting, I find it equally off-putting that everyone who sings the national anthem now feels the need to add all sorts of unnecessary vocal gymnastics to it as if it's an American…
Interesting. I've always wondered if people living in places like the Soviet Union (or DPR Korea, today) really believe(d) government propaganda, or if they just accepted it as unavoidable political theatre.
I work in a nearly-exclusively female work environment. The token male was a man who, like most of us, was in his mid-thirties, but I swear to god he was Cary Grant reincarnated. He was a vibrant conversationalist, witty and urbane, kind, and the kind of guy who, during our after-work drinks, would stand up every…
A (legitimate) cowboy friend gave me one of his old ropes, and I have been practicing lassoing the fire hydrant outside my apartment. It's highly unlikely that I will ever be called upon to lasso anything that moves, but it's fun.
I don't want to hate on anyone's viewing pleasure...except that I am *totally* hating everyone's viewing pleasure. Jeez, people, can't you show less enthusiasm for stuff you like?!
I am in my late 30s. I used tanning beds *occasionally* as a young teenager— back when people actually thought that getting a "base tan" (!) would prevent you from getting burned. At 15, I went all gothy and have avoided the sun for the last 20 years.
OMG I am crying at a flashmob.
THANK YOU. As a woman and long-time Tolkien buff, I can honestly say that I have never been bothered by the lack of female characters. I can find plenty to admire in the characters that are there— Eowyn, Galadriel, Melian, Idril, just to name a few—and I can appreciate the universal values in characters like Bilbo,…
The Friends of the A B C were far and away the most talented performers in the show. I know they wanted the marquee value of big names, but the difference between the Actors-Who-Sing and the Singers-Who-Act was huge, and the singers fared much better. Aaron Tveit FTW!!!
Right there with you. No one will ever match Colm Wilkinson's version.
In a way, his cameo sort of bummed me out...it was an immediate reminder that no matter how good Hugh Jackman was, he was never, ever going to do Bring Him Home as well as Colm. He did it well, but no, he is no Colm Wilkinson. Sigh.
I pretty much started crying pre-emptively as soon as I saw Enjolras for the first time, and was practically inconsolable by the time we got to Empty Chairs at Empty Tables. It was AWESOME! :D
OMG, Galadriel!!!
I like your plan.
THANK YOU. Sheesh. My horse would lose his friggin' mind if he only got ridden an hour a day.
I have 2 that my grandmother gave me— a paring knife and a fillet knife— and I *love* them. They are lethally sharp, but they really do stay that way.
