This is what I’d like to do to it...
That’s not cursed. This is cursed.
The rear windows haven’t worked in a few years. But the fronts still work! And the front passenger is still the factory regulator.
True. But recently the 17 year old has been driving it, and he know’s everything... (Which is why we had to go pull it out of a down hill space over at Panda Express.)
Technically, it has 1/2 of them. And only because they’re sitting on the counter in the garage.
I’m actually on my second transmission... This time I’m blaming the kids. (Or you know, the fact that we’ve been driving this car since the kids were born.)
I think I may be out of time. The car's been benched for a month with no reverse gear. The engine still runs fine. (And the front two windows still go up and down.)
I never slowed down or dodged in my MK III Jetta. But then I was hoping that it would die.
I had one break the last year I was driving the car. Then my teenage son (football, weightlifting and track) had two flats in one day over at the practice football field. Overnight someone broke in and stole the solar battery charger. Then two months later a fellow teammate wanted to mess with him and thew something…
Dealer tag, magnetic back...
Perhaps both....
My third car was an '84 Old Cutlass Calais (Cutlass Supreme with all the options). I had the alternator die one evening. Since the Calais had the Olds 307 instead of the Chevy 305, a rebuilt alternator was $120 instead of $20.
We have a mix of both around here. The yard I usually go to is one of the "they pull the parts" places, I go in part because they do the work and to be honest they tend to have the best price around. My backup is a "you pull it" place, but it tends to cost a little more and I have to do the work.
Way to go!
It's a longer story that I want to type... But I have picked up a couple of driver's side windows for my MK III Jetta at the junkyard for $40 each. (The only bad news is that I've emptied the cheapest junkyard... Now the next best option is $55.)
Having moved from South Carolina to Kansas, I can say, that I do not miss the annual yellow waves of pollen clouds coming from the trees.
