That's one of the pre-94's without the passenger side airbag. you could almost drop a 12" CRT tv into that glove box, or comfortably prop your feet up and take a nice nap.

Actually I'm comparing the same car, with different engines. And I'm substituting the mileage values for the gasoline engine based on my "real world" values for the same engine in a different model.

Ok. But I consistently average 30 mpg in my 2.5l Passat over 500 miles at an average speed of 76 mph.
