I'm glad they're not going to repeat this experiment. It made me really sad reading about it. I have no doubt the overall consciousness of an octopus is centered in the middle, though. We've known for decades each arm reacts independently to the environment around it.

I have the 5, but I'm getting this one. The camera's better, it apparently has the fingerprint feature, and it will be noticeably faster. I also hear they're going to double the pixels.

You know I really liked "Daredevil." I'm surprised people hated it so much. But then again I was also surprised to read in Wikipedia that "Overboard" was a box office and critical disaster. That's one of my favorite movies ever!

Creationism as a literal reading of the book of Genesis is unscientific – yes. But the idea that we all just popped up on this planet without an intelligence putting us here? That is also unscientific. And completely impossible.

I'm not really surprised by Joss Whedon's assessment. I'm sorry. I never had a lot of love for this director.

Everyone nowadays radically underestimates how smart people were in the Middle Ages. And we need to stop using the word "medieval" as an insult. And I'm in good company on that. C.S. Lewis, C.G. Jung, and J.R.R. Tolkien would all agree.

I think Ben Affleck is an amazing choice.

I think this is the first time in my life I've ever been horrified for trees. That looks too scary for words.

Wow. I guess neither of the Israelite kingdoms were able to hold onto the Philistines. I didn't know that. And while I haven't read Josephus, I don't think Kings actually considered this a "victory." It's more like God pulled their fat out of the fire at the last minute. The two stories are actually quite consistent.

Well I hope they give the FF a better cast. Throughout the whole series Dr. Doom was never more than an excuse to give Julian McMahon face time.

"It already feels like time for I Love The 10s."

Yeah I couldn't put my finger on why Event Horizon vaguely disappointed me. I don't think the lack of gore was one of the reasons, though. But I did enjoy it. It just didn't belong up there with the classics.

Did we know about the New World before Columbus? Did the Muslims? Did the Chinese? Did the Indians? So I guess we discovered it! The Aztecs certainly didn't discover us. Also note that we discovered islands all over the planet sitting relatively close to population centers that didn't even know about them.

I'm glad to see this brought to an end. Frankly I was always horrified by the Ultimate universe. Cannibal Hulk? Pussy-assed Thor? Evil Reed Richards? Wanda and Pietro in an incestuous relationship?

I'd never heard of Thilo Sarrazin. Thanks for the assist! I notice that his ancestors hail from a wave of Mohammedan invaders. So he knows whereof he speaks.

Look. Don't play games with your body and with your brain. I've never believed marijuana was harmless. Heavy users have always struck me as very trivial. Am I putting the cart before the horse? Are they lying down with dogs and getting fleas?

Yes still mostly white. But that's changing. Then when whites drop deep into minority status our children and grandchildren will understand what people like me have been bitching about. Especially in Europe when Muslims start sending them into slavery.

The new cell phones out there really tempting – and not just the Android. But I still have to go with security. Android is a catastrophe.

Graeco-Roman Aristotelians and Medieval Scholastics actually had a more sophisticated view of the universe than Descartes' modern heirs. It was understood that every form we come across is hylomorphic: matter and form. It was further understood that matter without form was chaotic. Another term for form, in fact, was

Good catch!
