Really, there’s little point in colonizing Mars. Maybe a research base there or something, but instead, we really need to focus on just not ruining the Earth, and coming up with a better asteroid detection and redirecting system.

Unless that plan is to murder a million people in the most expensive way possible, I don’t see how this plan can succeed.
Musk probably watched the Expanse and thought, “Hmm, creating a marginalized society like the Belters to build stuff for me is a really good idea.”
Farming is tricky.
More likely is that they get a base on Mars with a couple thousand people, and that base starts the process of shifting towards greater self-sufficiency over time.
Both the “2050" deadline and full self-sufficiency are definitely not likely - and a stretch even if you’re starting right off at 1000 Starships ready to go at 2030. I think Musk and the fandom know that, too. Even fans of Musk joke about “Elon time” and his optimistic deadlines. More likely is that they get a base on…
Republicans: “It isn’t fair that Twitter blocked Trump simply because they disagree with his political beliefs!”
President Trump has learned his lesson, and promises that he will only try to overthrow the government, again, if he loses, again!
Yes, let the guy who repeatedly insisted he won an election he clearly lost, and incited an insurrection with his repeated lies, back on Twitter.
So is it morally wrong to use Twitter to facilitate insider trading?
I’d go one further, Musk is morally wrong and flat out stupid.
Is Elon Musk really that bad?
He’s spending 44 billion to buy a website that’s a glorified global (and quite toxic) megaphone, when that money could go towards how many things that could actually help Climate Change? Heck he could’ve solved world hunger a couple times over with that.
LOL Freedom of Speech at a slight cost...
I guess if the only reason your car company stayed solvent long enough to turn a profit is government subsidies and tax breaks then the first idea you go to for your new social media acquisition is going back to the well.
Laws punishable by Fines only affect the poor.
We need proportionate penalties like Norway has for vehicle infractions. The more wealth you have, the higher the proportionate fine is. For Norway traffic offense, its the cost of the ticket plus 10% of your annual salary.
I think the argument is that if Musk had disclosed his transactions per the law, Rasella would have held off until the stocks rose? Its a weak argument IMO, since Musk’s involvement could have just as easily sent Twitter stocks crashing.
Who would have thought a paunchy con man with a penchant for tiny waifish women half his age, and profound business ADHD would circumvent rules to ingratiate himself?
TV and Netflix don’t count? Despite their as deep or deeper penetration into the market and zeitgeist? I think that shortchanges their impact a little bit.
