I think E-sports has a long, long way to go before it really starts taking off. While there is a built in fanbase for competitive games, it’s as Nathan pointed out, it’s hard to bring new people in.

I’m not an e-sports guy, but I’ve always felt that if any genre of games was going to elevate e-sports to the mainstream it would be fighting games. I’ve caught myself watching some of the Injustice matches and those are hella fun because I: a.) know what the hell is going on and b.) can easily follow the action.
