Think about it. Similar price, more versatility, and they're pursuit rated out of the box. Plus they don't have to retrain officers in EVOC for FWD since they're AWD.

Body on frame is irrelevant. My local PD has had nothing but issues with their Tahoe. Nary a peep from the Explorer or the Taurus Units they have. Ford is also offering a 5yr 100k warranty on the vehicle powertrain for PI units.

Except the transmissions are garbage for police duty, that's why CHP is going exclusively with Explorers.

Easier than trying to explain where the seat controls are to your passenger.

Also, I would imagine since the belt is bathed in oil, it can be tensioned down more and not risk it getting brittle and breaking from the heat, although there is no official Ford data on that.

I looked at the shop manual for the 1.0L it's not hard, just time consuming quite a bit of stuff needs to come off to get to the belt, but it's just like any other TB, lock cams, release tensioner, replace belt, refit tensioner, release cams. Put other equipment back on. Looks like it's self tensioning too.

What you haven't mentioned, and why this is going to be a hard sell in the US, is that it only comes with the 5spd Manual transmission.

Nope, still looks like a dog taking a shit.

Ford does offer a NA V6 in a Crew Cab. It's not the 3.5L, that comes next year; as of now it's the 3.7L out of the Mustang. Not available with 4x4 though, you have to go with 3.5 EB, 5.0, or 6.2

Is it weird that I read this in the Russian Accent?

It's called a dogleg box. The reason it's placed there is, when racing, you shift between 2nd and 3rd much more often than between 1st and 2nd. Having a straight line is easier on everything.

@DeMuro would agree with you! As much as the self deprecating humor tells you otherwise, he pets the shag fur every time he valet parks it at a fancy restaurant.

See there's where you're wrong, it's not all wheel drive, it's full blown 4x4 w/ electronic transfer case. the 2spd auto 4WD is only available on Lariat+.

I have two on my lot, both the loaded 4x4 variants around 45k before rebates. It's not that people would rather have a V8, it's the price + lack of advertising. IMO they should have made it into a lowered sport truck instead of offering it as a 4x4.

It's not that simple. People are finicky and won't always buy even if it's made super easy. A lot of people think I'm tricking them when I show the bottom of the barrel pricing right off the bat. Most dealers put consumers on the ceiling so they can scrape them down because they have to, they won't buy unless there is

HEY! My Ranger has a metal antenna. It's a 2011.

Slight Correction: the Convertible E30 was produced through the 1993 MY, while the Coupe and Sedan were E36s in 1993

For sure, but the F150 isn't sold globally like the Hilux, that's why the Ranger exists globally (except the US)

Ford's Maintenance program is a pretty good deal if you negotiate it down to around $1k - $1500 for 7/100k miles. It includes all regular maintenance except spark plugs in California.
