I know ya’ll stay complaining about these mandated intro’s, but dammit......this was just too much! The combo of this intro + this “story” is the equivalent of your dad’s kool-aid punch.

I don’t think at any time I would have thought this was bad or seeing it as a sexualized thing (seriously, those people need to do some deep introspection), but being raised in a “don’t kiss on the lips! germs!” household, I would have thought it was weird before I had kids. I didn’t even think I would kiss my child…
Where did you read that at all in what I (or others saying that you shouldn’t be nonchalant about calling CPS) have said? No one has said “don’t call.” Everyone has said “don’t think that calling is a trivial matter, and take your decision to call seriously.”
I think the point is that the result may be much more than “inconvenienced” and could result in a bad outcome where there was nothing bad happening in the first place. Because, you know, racism. (And classism) And also, because not perfectly functioning CPS systems, which is unfortunately the norm.
Thats a bit different b/c there is actually a duty of care there that is breached (i.e. the basis for any negligence action); typically school teachers are mandatory reporters (not sure if that is state or federally mandated) so they had duty of care (to act in a certain way), which they breached. Also, there are…
A lot of the “enslaved” didn’t know anything other than being a slave. They were either born into it or sold into it by their own people.
False. PEOPLE WHO WERE ENSLAVED knew that it was wrong. You have just erased those people from existing. Also the PEOPLE WHO ENSLAVED knew it was wrong b/c they also knew that they did not want to be enslaved. It wasn’t like they were like “slavery is fine, just happens to be that I am not one of those people, but…
You can recognize something as unequivocally BAD and also recognize WHAT the additional impacts were. That does not make that act GOOD. Holocaust was BAD, but some folks got some really great paintings out of it! The benefit to a particular person or group of people does not make the horrible, unequivocally bad thing…
School Principal Jim Van Dellen admitted the assignment was “out of line” in a letter to parents, explaining that the assignment was intended to “spark debate.”
I really wonder what made the students decide to investigate him. The school saying that none of his rhetoric negatively impacted the students suggests to me that he was attempting to “convert” folks and they got suspicious and started trying to see what the crazy was all about. Wonder if they complained and were…
Except....when looking at actual ratings, they dropped when Lauer was the main “tentpole” of the show and rose once he left and Hoda took his place. Seems like all that “hot for Matt” was not at all tied to anything he actually brought to the show, and he was actually bringing them down.
Of course, now you have the problem of one of the most powerful Force users of all time (Rey force pulls a lightsaber and Jedi mind tricks a guard to let her go on like the day after she finds out that Jedi are real) chilling out on the exact region of the exact planet where the Finn and Poe happen to crash land? The…
Probably. My boss was pretty horrified when I (super over-qualified POC) said I almost didn’t apply to my current position b/c I had never done one of the tasks the job posting said would be necessary.
In my limited experience doing hiring in certain contexts, I have to agree that POCs are consistently more qualified than white applicants—although there are fewer of them. We may only get 1 out of every 10 applicants that are POCs, but those POCs were always better educated, more/better experience, more community…
Maybe having sex with someone & not being sterile/infertile when you really don’t want to have kids is (at minimum) a “very immature decision and very niave.”
Next time dude will break her jaw and I will have zero sympathy.
CPS put the child in foster care, saying that Christopher did not know his dad well enough to live with him. Crawford was allowed supervised visits over the past month.
Thanks!
Is there a black-owned bookstore online where I could pre-order this from? Not trynna give all my coins to the man if I can help it.
Your entire argument boils down to: I want. I don’t get. You, fix it.
