If you actually read my response I said that it looked like NO ONE in the chambers read the legislation. Not just the legislator.

And yet, a Buffalo News reporter was able to put that together in the same amount of time? I would imagine that they have fewer people on staff trained and paid to understand legislation and figure out how it affects the state of New York.
Perhaps. But when your staff that you rely on to have read the bill for you miss how it would result in the state you represent losing billions of dollars, I doubt that anyone anywhere in these chambers is actually reading and understanding these things.
I feel like the best response in this situation would be to call this teacher’s mother a bitch. To use his (ridiculous) terminology, bitch is a “commodified” term. Some women call each other or themselves that in songs and the like and it’s even used as a name of a feminist magazine! That must mean that it’s okay for…
Hide these charts! This pretty much guarantees that the Repubs will have their constituents support in enacting this!
Who on earth suggested that I was a white woman. False. Not that it matters since I am undeniably right, but I am a Black woman, and whatever that poster is or purports to be, it still doesn’t matter or put someone above racist or sexist thinking. Again: see point re: white women voting for trump.
True. So much more satisfying.
Apparently not. :-/

Also, the “black woman” BS is a lame copout; she’s a black democratic Congresswoman, what do you think the races were of the staffers that she terrorized? They don’t get “black points?”
Um, no. Sorry Dems. If republican voters have proven anything is that they will continually vote for people who enact policies that work against their best interests—and even vote them in based on the promise of them working against their best interest.
Um, no. I think being a bad boss is much different than being a sexist, racist, homophobic, islamaphobic, etc. boss, which I would not tolerate.
Having lived in California while Harris was AG, I would definitely hesitate to call her a “progressive hero” in the first instance. Perhaps she will take a more aggressive stance in the Senate (and am open-minded to that possibility), but if just going on her history in the state, I am not hopeful.
I admit that I haven’t followed her career enough to know whether policy & advocacy-wise I am all-in. BUT if the worst thing about her is mean to staff, I am okay with that if she is fighting hard for the rights of Americans that often are not fought for at all. Yes, it would be much better if she was a sweetheart…
Jezzies.....A Call To Action!
Stop equating protests (which is also what is happening now) with “engagement”. They are pretty much the exact opposite thing, and your argument doesn’t make sense bc you keep saying how folks should aspire to the type of activism in the civil rights movement, which was AT LEAST as much about yelling about how wrong…
But none of those examples you are talking about involved the targeted group sitting down and saying to the bigot “ok, let me hear you out, maybe you have some valid points”. They just asserted the wrongness of the bigoted view. That is diametrically opposed to what this ad is doing.
That’s literally the entire backbone of this website. Miracles do happen.
When folks always want to blame black people for the bad shit that gets done to them, I hope they reflect on this incident (which is like so many others), where black people can’t even just exist without white people trying to find ways to perform their racism onto them. Two kids, literally just sitting there, and a…
The point is that black people—as ACTUAL outsiders in most cases— wouldn’t even get the platform to write up our observations on the cultural differences that we see.
