If you are in Los Angeles, vote “No” on Charter Amendment C on May 16!!
That’s pretty classic: Rigorous application of the rules for black person (theoretically justified by existing rules, not racism); exceptions to rules made for white person because: reasons.
By the way: This type of hate damn well should know color lines. If you’re used society demonizing *you*, it is extra appalling for you to then turn around and demonize someone else.
I agree with what you are saying here, but its also even more complicated b/c gerrymandering, in some forms, has been also used to “help” minorities, so its very complicated to think about how a voting system would or should look to ensure that minority groups get representation as well.
Pause. Please don’t act like white churches or white people are so openly welcoming of gays and all for gay rights. Or that they love to stand with victims instead of the perpetrators when they feel like the perps have some value, like run a cult-like religion (or are part of the religion called football). Duggars…
NOW I’M CRYING AT MY DESK!
Would have been better as “D. Roof, D. Roof, D. Roof.....”
I’m still trying to figure out what the fuck “justice braids” are.
“The president is a neophyte to politics.
The update just emphasizes how this “requirement” isn’t actually doing anything. INVEST MORE TIME AND MONEY INTO GETTING KIDS CONNECTED TO THE RESOURCES THAT EXIST. What seems “simple” to 20-, 30-, 40-something bureaucrats and internet commenters is not necessarily so for teens without experience navigating that…
Um, you know how you could accomplish this without imposing this stupid requirement? Invest in college and career counseling in the public schools. Hire enough staff so that they can guide them in making decisions about what to do after high school, and assist them in filing out the massive paperwork required in many…
Is Chicago then going to pay for them to go to college? Let’s start there, shall we.
Please don’t fall for this. While under another administration this might be a noble gesture, but under 45/Sessions this is an attempt to say to white people “look, we don’t hate black people, what are they complaining about” without doing anything that would result in actually punishing a person who committed harm to…
We will always have some issues involving police misconduct. That is to be expected from any large group. You will always find bad apples. But you need to get rid of them when you do find them. What we should be demanding is that when these things happen, the officer must be held accountable for his or her actions.…
My main point of this discussion though, is to share that blaming slavery for how SOME black parents severely beat their children is a bit of a stretch. It seems slavery is to blame for every horrible thing African-Americans do to each other. (Btw, other races do hit their children as well) As a Caribbean- American,…
Maxine Waters = Hermione, obvi
GTFO with that “Bernie Bro” crap. I was not one of them (black woman voting Sanders in primary, Clinton in general), but PLEASE do not act like we are not in this position due to traitor-ass white women. If white women would rather vote for a sexual assaulting man who actively supported policies directly co tarry to…
I blame Hanna Anderson for saying their sizing is for children who are “at or below average weight.” I have an idea! Let’s start by saying toddlers are fat! That’s super!
I am a new-ish mom and I just looked at Hannah Anderson. I don’t get it. They are fine-ish clothes. (Way less cute that Janie and Jack...which I can’t/don’t afford but will take as hand me downs from friends!) Is Hannah Anderson a thing? Is that what wealthy/trendy parents dress their kids in?
