I just finished re-reading this; it is in his Nightmares and Dreamscapes book. I hadn't pulled this short story collection out in years, but it is definitely worth the read!

I love your The Long Winter reference, but I'm in Northern Minnesota, and so the rest is quaint.

when this came up on my phone but hadn't yet loaded the pic, I pictured the "singer" Pit Bull and it was a way different story.

I glossed over the title and was intrigued by how candid "Pitbull" of mediocre music notoriety was being regarding his strange phobia. It made me almost like Pitbull for half-a-second.

This video is way better though.

Not to be all #notallminnesotans but I also grew up in MN and that was nothing like my experience. Maybe you just had crappy friends and neighbors?

god has soooo many bitches

The implicit racism in the story is so discouraging and idiotic.

I am a Minneapolitan. The idea that Betsy Hodges is in a gang or supports gang activity, is literally as likely as your third grade teacher joining a gang and flashing signs.

Hey, it would be great to include the REAL, positive story here! The organization is Neighborhoods Organizing for Change (NOC), and they are PROUD to be hiring folks who have served their time and now want to serve the community! Check out their video on this very thing.

Professor Levy-Pounds knows what the fuck she's talking about. Minneapolis police - like a lot of police departments - have a history and culture of over-policing, using too much force, and generally acting like racist shitheads in communities of color. Mayor Hodges and Chief Harteau have been working to make

I live around these parts, and most people I know are saying "Are you fucking kidding me?" The response is an overwhelming: "Oh, FFS KSTP. Really?"

I completely missed that quote! It briljant!

(I do most of my reading by audio book.) I don't usually preorder off Audible, but I pre-ordered the new Stephen King novel 'Revival' because I unironically love Stephen King and it's read by my favourite male character actor of all time, David Morse. It comes out soon, I am very excited.

Yeah, totally. I hate looking out the windows at night and the whole idea of Bloody Mary still messes with my head.

Creepiest looking statue. That'd freak me out if it was in front of me. And you're welcome, I've always felt obligated to reply to any comment on something I post on any website no matter which one. Dont know why, its why I dont like have expensive gifts bought for me, because I always try to either match or out do

OK, this is the first one that really creeped me out. I hope that it is both true and not true.

I've never come across that sign myself if that's what you're asking but to me it might be a creepy experience. Some people like to think that our memories play a major role in how we feel about certain places. Sometimes you can read a book about a haunted house and then twenty years later, while walking around a

This happened in my junior year of high school.
