The work environment being toxic was an intended part of the show. It was never meant to make the audience feel comfortable.
“so do our sensibilities and our awareness of the ways in which injustice operates systematically.”
I also liked one that went along the lines of being surprised that “in 55 years of covering the Mets, the New York Times has only now just used the term ‘shithole’”
I’m pretty sure Trevor Noah could name a few African countries if he wanted to.
But as a commentator, I can name a ton of them from memory. Here goes...
Algeria
Morocco
Egypt
Tunisia
Libya
Ethiopia
Sudan
South Sudan
Uganda
Somalia
Eritrea
Djibouti
Madagascar
South Africa
Mozambique
Kenya
Liberia
Senegal
Coite d’Ivoire
Tasmania
Chad

I think the problem is harassment, like so many words, is losing its original- and I would contend, essential- meaning. Harassment is a pattern of behavior, not an incident. If something happens once, it doesn’t matter what is done, it is not harassment.
It’s like that line from John Mulaney, about an encounter with a homeless person in NY:
“...stories about him using “colorful language” in front of her, talking “raunchily” with his friends in private conversations, masturbating in front of her, and then blackballing her in the industry after he had fired her.”
Did he consciously choose to masturbate in front of her knowing she was in his presence, or did she simply walk in on him whilst he was jacking off?
Yeah, kinda an arson, murder, and jaywalking situation there.
I’ve been watching a lot of the archived episodes of WCW lately, and holy shit, I forgot how insane wrestling used to be.
The network was dead to me after they cancelled Talking Smack. That was the best show they produced, the promos were incredible, and it gave an opportunity to give characters depth. I tried re-watching the shows from when I was a kid, and it’s hard to sift through the bad and good. Nostalgia wears thin after watching…
One thing this reveals, and is a problem WWE hasn’t been able to crack, is their audience is getting older and older. Kids aren’t clamoring for 1980's Crockett shows.
I always found this especially odd since new episodes are available on Hulu the next day.
There’s a subreddit that keeps good track of what WWE has upload from their video library.
The interface on the app needs a total overhaul. It should be way more user friendly. My 8yo is addicted to it, and even he complains about how hard it is to find the matches he wants to watch.
Only WWE could be surprised that wrestling fans like to watch wrestling.
No shit. I should be able to go Raw-Smackdown-PPV until I fall asleep or die. And get Sunday Night Heat on there, for God’s sake, at least for the nights it serves as a PPV pre-show of sorts.
They're not even close to "leftists". I do agree that a lot of their attempts at political commentary are shallow and dumb and uninspired.
Yeah, well, you're wrong. You would know that if you had watched one episode dealing with politics. They make fun of both parties equally. They point out hypocrisy on both sides. If that makes them liberal scum or w/e your nonsensical ass said, then so be it. They are not overt leftists or at least it does not reveal…
