Never again will your girl have to read the text, “I can’t wait to stick my duck in your puppy”.

Long story; insurance did cover a lot of replacement but most was irreplaceable. And then we had to fight the mortgage company for about 6 years to try to get the funds released, which they didn't do until after I borrowed the money (thanks, Dad), repaired the house, and then sold it. And then they gave me the money.

Hurricane Katrina was a good motivator for me too; basically, the storm decided I didn't want anything that was in my attic or pretty much throughout the rest of the house.

I really miss that show "Clean Sweep" (the TLC one); they used to show a block of them on Saturday mornings, and it was a good motivational tool for doing a room every weekend (or at least a closet, or a dresser/desk).

I have a genuine fear of this in my life; I'm self-employed and do work that is nothing but deadlines. SOQ due dates for engineers are not flexible and if something is due on a particular date, that's when it's due. I have no one I can pass the work on to as I'm it. I work on a MacBook Pro, so I'm portable, but I've

"Upon learning this, we immediately closed the security breach and began strengthening security measures throughout the Kickstarter system."

I honestly miss the days of email without signatures. I'm just as guilty as my clients & contacts in using them, but I keep it to my name, company name, and website URL. Like others have noted, if you're getting an email from me, I would figure you know what my email is or that you know how to work the "reply" button.

As far as chains go, though, Jimmy John's is really good. Firehouse as well, but they're slipping a bit.

One of the reasons I've almost always kept being a Company Man, as it were, when it comes to displays for whatever Mac I'm using.

Was going to add; in my research into buying something non-Apple over the past several months I saw their name come up several times and, mostly, with good to great reviews.

The main reason I'm looking away from Apple for a new external display (I have a recently-released MacBook Pro/Retina but want a full display for at-desk work) is because Apple has apparently ceased making them. Meaning; displays.

Ditto the happiness with Plugable; I have a multi-hub system set up under my desk (God Bless Command Strip Velcro) feeding off a single USB3 port on my MacBook Pro. I think it's the one port to a 7 port hub, which has multiple HDs hooked up and then two other hubs — one four-port feeding input devices (keyboard,

Same problem here — I wish they weren't so stingy about expanding. I think they said they only do a max of 4 new stores a year, and at least one of those is always in California. :)

Amazon's current price (2014 Jan 10) is $17.99 for a 3 hook set. Amazon, love 'em though I do, is not consistent with pricing.

Understood; read through that again after my initial post. I'll stand by my recommendation of the OWC OTG above any of the noted drives, though. (and you're right, it's a good picture, eh?)

I've got Windows installed on several Macs in our house; pretty much only to play the games you really want to play. The Mac App Store is making the gaming thing a little better, as is Steam's Mac section, but the really good stuff is on the PC side, alas. I'm a Mac user for over 20 years and, with a brief exception

FWIW, I never give gifts expecting anything in return. Maybe it comes with being a dad. :)
