It’s the Cobra Black Dragon from GI Joe Renegades!

“F1 drivers on ordinary public transport” should be its own Netflix series.

R2D2 over Chewbacca is... misguided.

Yeah. Like I said, I bet they’re looking at this as a chance to charge 10x their usual rates a la Monaco hotels on race weekend.

The question THEN becomes whether the site will allow you to specifically book a room with a view of the right part of the course, I suppose.  Last time I booked in Vegas was the MGM Grand and I don’t know if the options got that specific....

Well, the fact that (a) tickets are on sale and (b) tickets are basically sold out kind of gives that answer away.

Yeah, I mooted it yesterday but watching a race from one of the hotels might be REALLY cool.  Lord knows how high they’re gonna jack the prices - someone at MGM is going to look at Monaco and get ideas.

Or just, y’know, go to Montreal for arguably the best race on the entire damn calendar.

You’re probably better off getting a suite with a good view of the track than an actual ticket.

Exactly. They’re doing it at an inconvenient time for the east coast to give viewers in Europe the experience of being a North American and watching F1 over breakfast.

Ferrari probably spends $100 mil on catering.

I can’t wait for the endless variant on “VW’s qualifying time was listed as (x), but in reality it’s (x+30%)“

And it only came “back” because of the Pandemic - it’s off again this year, unless they give it the Russia spot that we all think is going to go to Turkey instead.

China spent $2.5 billion on their track and it’s not even on the calendar anymore.

Gotta say, it would have been something watching James Hunt take his pick of the local townies circa 1977.

I think the only way you ever get Road Atlanta is if Coke sponsors a team and demands they plunk a race in their backyard, akin to RBR and the Austrian GP.

Does Grade 1 even technically apply to the track layout itself? Things like track width and such?

Vegas’ tickets are likely to be hoovered up by casino buys, at least for the first couple of years.  So the pricing is likely to be somewhat irrelevant.

I mean, if COTA didn’t have the foresight to put an exclusivity clause / territorial rights reservation / what have you into their contract with F1, that’s of on them rather than F1.

I blame that corrupt marshall, L. Akitu. I think he’s japanese....
