The Ranger towing stat must be for a bumper hitch because if you order the towing package, which is basically a bar that mounts to the frame for better weight distribution and load capacity, the tow rating jumps to 7,500 pounds using the same engine.

Future update: One morning the owner gets in his car and finds he can’t go anywhere. He puts the car in drive and then reverse but it just doesn’t move. You got me curious enough to do some research. If you check both the Camry and the Ranger specifications you’ll find that the overall width of the Camry is 72.4 inches while the Ranger has two, with and without mirrors at 85.8 inches and 73.3 inches respectively.
