Yeah, the whole "trekking" part of Trek.

I think what you're getting at here is a larger problem in the media right now: the "dark and gritty" fad. Some of my favorite stories are of the dark and gritty variety—Blade Runner, for example—and some dark and gritty retellings have been spectacular—like the Frank Miller Batman comics—but I feel like the trend has

Jordan is a case all to himself. He is the reason that SF/Fantasy writers don't get paid by the word any more.

We also need to take into account that expectations we have for novels today is much different that what they were fifty years ago. Just be glad that Jasmine is in Aladdin's prince ensemble, and not his normal clothes.

I'm a little torn about this one.

I would actually be 100% okay with that.

Homeworld and Homeworld 2 had some impressive mods, including a Star Wars total conversion, though they can be hard to find anymore.

I've never quite understood that part of Japan. A lot of places in Asia have a lot of emphasis on ethnic purity, including my own Korea, but not to the extent that you see in traditional Japan.

My condolences; I have an interracial family as well, and here in the States it's usually not as issue. My wife has been

Stick with it. There are a lot of good episodes just in the first season, even though the pilot leaves a lot to be desires. If you MUST skip most of season 1, make sure you watch Duet and In the Hands of the Prophets.
