I agree that we can't dismiss the evidence, but I do think that blaming cars for obesity is overly simplistic and it also ignores a lot of institutionalized problems that we, as a society have. Which is why I say correlation is totally a yes. But... you can't just say "exercise more" and expect it to solve the obesity…

No car means walking/biking everywhere, sure. But let's not forget: some people who are overweight are healthy and do exercise, so having a car or not having a car wouldn't make a difference.
