Even if we were to accept Turkey version of events wholesale, that the aircraft has indeed violated their airspace for “17 seconds”

whitey please...Turkey is using and abusing its NATO membership while they take out the PPK, a party which Argodan cannot stand and simultanesouly they are turning a blind eye to ISIS.

If the radar is accurate, and if the Russian jet was only in Turkey’s airspace for 20 or so seconds, and if the Turkish F-16’s pursued the jet into Syrian airspace then this most certainly is an act of aggression on Turkeys part.

Yeah, Russia should totally respect Turkey’s protection of ISIS and those oil smugglers.

They (Turkey) already have the “worst member of NATO” title - let us not forget that they are barely democratic these days - with a little “d”

My sentiments exactly. Hell would freeze over before I side with Putin, but it’s getting chilly lately.

So... I guess the US and Turkey are the assholes o’ the day.

Ok, if you say so. Back here in reality, however, Erdogan hates constitutional secularism, is trying to build a new Iran and is supporting Muslim fundamentalist jihadists in Syria including ISIS.

I can’t understand how Turkey was ever allowed to be part NATO. They are a bunch of terrorist supporting scumbags.

So let me get this straight. Turkey and Russia are not at war. Turkey knows the purpose of the SU-24 was the bombing of ISIS targets. Turkey knows the aircraft was not there as an act of war against it. Shooting down the plane and killing the pilot and co-pilot was a justified action? I would have hoped to see

Nah. Fuck Turkey. Nobody has been more complicit in the rise of ISIS. But even worse- that’s just part of a pattern since Erdogan took power of becoming more sympathetic to Islamists and turning away from modernity.

Turkey are just a bunch of massive hyprocrites

We know that Turkey is supporting the armed rebelion against Syrian gouverment, and that Turkey created unofficial no-fly zone along its frontier with Syria as safe heaven for these rebels,or terrorist,as Syrian gouverment considers them.

Oh yes sure...“defending it’s airspace” - from a lone Su-24 operating over Syria. Only a moron would see anything good out of this situation. I suspect escalation is on the way now, we’ll see how ‘brave’ Turkey is when faced with the backlash.

Turkey and Erdogan have their own agenda and it is an Islamist one. They start fearing for their ISIL friends...

Cares? Maybe not on a wholesale “save the puppies” level of care, the military is literally employed to kill people and I’m not a naive idiot.

Nobody is saying that America is terrible. My point is that the sanctimony in the article is laughable, especially the part about it being challenging to envision bringing Russia into a coalition because of them killing civilians.

The US Navy has used Tomahawks against ISIS before. Should we consider them a dog and pony show as well when the USAF and Navy aircraft have free reign over the region from the miriad of bases they have, and where they fly with as much freedom as the Russians do?.

Yeah, no. ISIS is the bastard child of the US, Israel, Qatar, Turkey and Saudi.

cruise missiles from the ships displacing less than 1,000 tons. cruise missiles with a 1,500-2,500 mi range. That left some folks standing with their mouths open.
