IN BEER????????

Employees must be THIS white in order to receive non-beer related compensation. Thanks ya'll!

On an article SPECIFICALLY addressing female suicide and its causes? You don't see the change of subject there? As it happens, MRAs are notorious for attacking and all articles about women with whines demanding to know why the article isn't talking about men. You don't see a problem with this?

Not only has he aged, he has aged quite ungracefully in my opinion, regarding his appearance and how he manages himself. He just seems so uninteresting, one middle aged cliché after another.

The point I'm making is that suicide in women has fuck all to do with systematic gendered oppression or any such thing. It has to do with the mental illness, most of the time.

Finally, we're getting somewhere. I posted this in another comment:

Yeah, particularly in an article that decries the creepy voyeurism of female suicide. Doesn't it seem a little counterproductive to use a massive banner photo of the exact issue you're taking to task?

Does that make it somehow impervious to criticisms of romanticizing female suicide?

Dear MRA trolls;

Really? I'm not being critical or anything but I look at that picture and think homeboy is looking 50. I mean, a healthy, well-off, access to nice clothes and hair-dye 50 but 50 all the same.

Go write the damned thing yourself and stop trying to derail.

Read the article; this isn't about the plague of suicide as experienced by women (and it doesn't assume that men do or don't get awareness), this is about the media's representation of female suicide as beautiful, and society's tendency to view it as fascinating.

I like how you act like your MRA opinionis the same thing as a fact. Go back to whatever slime pit regurgitated you.

Because even in death, Evelyn was reduced to "But she was so beautiful."

they are a circus act that we hold in contempt while they are alive, yes, but they are fascinating and tragic once they are dead. CIP: Anna Nicole, Amy Winehouse, etc...

Agreed. My first thought was "You should have used that Ophelia painting" and then I saw the author was aware of it. So doubly so. Would have made the same point, but without disrespecting the dead.

FWIW, I'm not comfortable with this photo, either. Though it wasn't triggering for me (and I'm very sorry it is for you, understandably), it nonetheless struck me as gratuitous and unnecessary. Undignified, too, especially given the seriousness of the subject matter as well as the message the writer is trying to

If, by 'fascinated' you mean contemptuous. ...we treat self-destructing women like a freak show. They're a circus act.

The lead pic is in seriously poor taste.
