Are the planes at LAX the size of a small city?
I guess my problem isn't so much with its ability to land. If I can accept light sabers and artificial gravity I can accept anything. But why would it need to land? It's size alone means you'd need a spaceport at least as big as the ship and that's assuming it takes off and lands vertically and doesn't need an runway.…
They were shown side by side in ROTJ. The shuttle seems to be comparable in size.
Then why have transporters and shuttles? I thought the whole reason Roddenberry wrote in transporters was so he wouldn't have to show the ship landing every episode.
I don't pretend to know anything about aerodynamics but I would have assumed something shaped like the Enterprise would tear itself apart in an atmosphere. The saucer section maybe but Generations showed they don't have much in the way of options when it comes to landing the thing.
Exactly. Why else would it have a cargo bay large enough to accommodate a ship the size of the Tantive IV? In the picture above it looks as if it's 20 miles away. You'd have to take a shuttle from the terminal anyway so might as well leave it in orbit.
I came specifically to ask this. I've never read much of the expanded universe and willfully block out episodes 1,2 and 3. I always assumed they're built in space dock and never enter an atmosphere.
More specifically I meant Americans adopting behavior they see from fans in England. Singing "You'll Never Walk Alone", wearing scarfs in August. But also naming teams like Real Salt Lake, Sporting Kansas City or DC United probably isn't going to connect with fans here.
This means something. This is important.
A lot of heroes in this thread. Such an effort!
Hilarious stuff my friend. And original!
So Australians have two sports they call football? How does that not get confusing?
Ah, not an American hipster. You'll go far. Carry on.
If you're British it's your own country's fault for coining the term.
Because aping the conventions of European fans is what made soccer so popular in this country.
Get out
That's your head up your own ass you're smelling.
I saw an easy setup and went for the easy joke.
