I suppose that does make sense - the reason I didn't find it scary was for precisely that reason, I was always very consciously-aware that I could just try again, and so death didn't mean anything to me in gameplay.

Actually, when you think about it - this attitude IS a business decision. Because as this article demonstrates, it paints Quantic Dream in a favorable light, which is - of course - good for business. His statement is a strategic one.
The key difference between Rice's use of exotic descriptions like that though and Meyer's use of literal descriptions is the fact that Rice has a history in writing erotica, and a LOT of the artistic qualities of that genre are to be found in The Vampire Chronicles, which is a very dark and philosophical series, and…
I completed the game and didn't find it scary at all? I honestly don't see why everyone makes such a big fuss over it. It was definitely a good, original game, and I loved the Lovecraftian style, but it wasn't scary. I don't think any game is scary. Movies can unsettle me, games just don't. If you die in a game...well…
Getting chased by that spider for the first time in Limbo was scarier to me than any of the above games were!
I trust critics enough to judge the "beauty" of a game based on the fact that they play through so many of them, so surely it's not an objective thing - some games simply look more visually-advanced than others.
I don't hear this as chaotic noise and I've been raised on Western music...? There's plenty of rhythm and pattern within this short clip. It sounds like a live, exotic form of industrial rock to me! XD
The most interesting critical disagreement seems to be on the graphical quality...how can critics disagree on that? Some say the game is gorgeous, others say it's ugly. From what I've seen of the gameplay footage anyway, I would side with the former.
Hero looks AWESOME. I like the concept of being your own character and having a unique power, as opposed to the many games where you have tons of super powers (Psi-Ops), or being forced to use one (such as electricity in inFamous).
Red Dead, amazing game, story, characters...it just had it all. And it's highly unconventional ending/post-gameplay...
Not another brown game!
@Aenean: Red Dead Redemption.
LOVE the Nineteen Eighty-Four reference Kotaku...
That is some BLACK humour in the thumbnail! XD
I agree with Mrvao down there, a zombie war game would probably be a success, and failing that, I'm not against a sci-fi idea either. For me, it's always been the gameplay that's made COD ace, it's just so smooth and satisfying. It'll work regardless of story.
@Paradox me: Better than on console, seeing as there's free-aim instead of a targeting system! :)
Yeah, that looks very linear.
I AM ALIVE? Maybe that's a reference to Altair, he was hinted at somehow being alive in the modern day in the last game.
@hot_heart: The first time I read that, I didn't notice the sarcasm! XD
Could be for an Uncharted 3 teaser trailer? Or even a PSP spin-off teaser. Early days. I think Naughty Dog deserve a good rest after UC2, which is one of the most incredible games I've ever had the pleasure of playing!
