You can track Pokemon in every Pokemon game of the main franchise through the Pokedex. Later games even have something called “Poke radar” that’s pinpoints patches of grass where Pokemon reside.

Agreed. It’s so dumb. The actual Pokemon games flat-out tell you the general areas where specific Pokemon can be found. It’s not like tracking is antithetical to the idea of Pokemon. Removing it altogether is such a pain.

So did the videos reveal more mechanics besides the exploration ones and all that? Not that those wouldn’t be “enough,” but I feel like the marketing for the game has been willfully obtuse. I wonder what else is in it.

I always think about the way he juxtaposed Hal’s and The Darkness’ serve game, and it fits right into the details mentioned above. Their match is my favorite thing he wrote (though it probably helps having played tennis quite a bit myself).
