I would disagree with that, actually. If you’re primarily using the truck for towing, a long bed might not really be a priority. Especially if the trailer isn’t terribly massive, and the extra wheel base isn’t needed. A more compact towing rig can be an asset.

Without knowing anything else, I wouldn’t be so quick to blame parents. I can see a ton of situations where a good kid with good parents could be coaxed into doing something like this with an elder that they look up to.
