Well seeing as how Tesla has released the most advanced version available to the public right now, I’d say they’re ahead as far as getting the product in customers hands.

Yeah, but you’re comparing a ‘99 to a ‘94. The Mustang got an updated 4.6 in 1998, so if we compare similar years, the ‘99 Mustang did 0-60 in 5.9 seconds according to C&D. That’s 1.3 seconds quicker.

What I meant by that wasn’t that their system is really a full autonomous mode, but just that it is the closest thing to it that anyone has released to the public so far.

I wonder what the criteria was here that put Tesla so low on the list. I would think people would generally consider them the top of the game, seeing as how they’re the only ones to really release their autonomous driving modes to the public.

Oh god, the dust! I can’t believe I forgot to mention that it basically created a thin sheet of mud on what ever surface got the most moisture, including my hands on the steering wheel.

Agreed, I’d give both my left nuts to have this thing.

I was wondering if you took it into a pay-n-spray if it would fix the tire, actually!

Just started the project in September, give it time :)

“You can offroad that XJ until it breaks to show how much it can do”

Hahaha, I’m definitely making it sound worse than it is. Many of these things weren’t really needed to be replaced, I just wanted to make it nice again. Total investment is a little over $2500, while less than $2k of that was the price of the car and what I needed to get it running (including the engine, turbos, etc).

I haven’t had to do too much, actually! Just a new engine, timing belt, turbos, clutch, slave cylinder, water pump, thermostat, various pulleys, front axles, turn signal switch, a seat, the engine wiring harness, and other misc things... Really not much at all.

Haha, you make it sound like they’re falling apart left and right. From that thread:

It’s about doing something cool with a platform that was never ever supposed to do that thing. Kind of like a sleeper dragster.

Not sure why people cling to the whole body on frame idea so strongly...

That’s where I thought it was the worst, actually. So much dust!

Why though? Just in principle? I tried it on my TJ and hated it.

Wish I could give an additional star for “econo-box whore house.”

Ok, I hereby demand more pictures of this TR-6. That looks awesome!
