They're probably getting tons of page hits on each Destiny article, so it encourages them to do more, plus they're all playing it anyway and there isn't much else out to discuss, so its pretty win/win for them.
Why is this something to be proud of...? If it's not your jam, that's cool, but there's no need to game-shame other people for things they enjoy. :P

Yup! That's actually what they do. Bungie tries to add gravitas to things with "The Noun", and it kind of falls flat.
